3 Dead After Hangar Collapses at Idaho Airport

A devastating incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Boise Airport in Idaho, where a building under construction, specifically a private hangar on the airfield, collapsed. The tragic event unfolded around 5 p.m., resulting in three fatalities and leaving five individuals critically injured, according to official reports.

During a press conference, Aaron Hummel, Chief of Operations for the Boise Fire Department, described the incident as a “large-scale collapse of the building’s framework.” The collapse occurred amidst ongoing construction work and also led to the destruction of a crane, intensifying the gravity of the situation.

At the site, three lives were lost, and an additional nine individuals sustained injuries, as conveyed by the City of Boise in a statement released on Wednesday. Presently, five of the injured individuals are in critical condition, receiving medical attention at local hospitals. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed at this point.

Investigations into the cause of the collapse are being conducted by the Boise police and representatives from OSHA, the U.S. agency overseeing workplace regulations. Mr. Hummel emphasized that the cause of the collapse is not immediately apparent, and the authorities have refrained from identifying the owner of the collapsed hangar.

This tragic incident at Boise Airport has cast a somber mood over the community, prompting inquiries into the factors contributing to this devastating construction site collapse.
