A security guard was injured in a drive-by shooting at Drake’s mansion in Toronto, just days after Kendrick Lamar used an image of the lavish property as cover art for his new diss track against the rapper.
The incident occurred around 2 am ET on Tuesday at Drake’s Park Lane Circle residence in the Bridle Path neighborhood of Canada’s prominent city.
According to Toronto police, the security guard was shot while standing outside the property gates by an unknown assailant.
A suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, as stated by the Toronto Police Service.
The security guard, who remains unnamed, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was unconscious when police arrived. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Drake’s presence during the incident is unclear, but his team is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.
The shooting followed Lamar’s release of a diss track targeting Drake, sparking further tension in their ongoing feud. Lamar’s fans even renamed parts of Drake’s neighborhood on Google Maps in support of the rapper.
The feud between the two stars began a month prior when Lamar criticized Drake and J Cole in his song “First Person Shooter”. Drake retaliated with accusations against Lamar, who responded with allegations against Drake, including accusations of domestic violence.
The motive behind the shooting at Drake’s home remains under investigation, according to Paul Krawczyk of the police service’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force.
