“SpongeBob Squarepants Will ‘Perform’ Sweet Victory to Kick Off Nickelodeon Broadcast of Super Bowl”

Prepare to dive into some nostalgia as SpongeBob Squarepants and his pals get ready to rock out to “Sweet Victory” during Super Bowl LVIII.

CBS Sports’ X/Twitter account recently announced that Nickelodeon will feature a special animated performance of the iconic song before the big game starts. Fans can expect a fun CGI rendition of the beloved tune.

For those who might need a reminder, “Sweet Victory” first appeared in the Season 2 episode of SpongeBob Squarepants titled “Band Geeks.” In that episode, SpongeBob and his friends team up with Squidward to form a band, leading to an epic performance at the Bubble Bowl.

Fans have been eager to see “Sweet Victory” at the Super Bowl for years. After the passing of SpongeBob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg, there was even a petition on Change.org calling for the song to be included in Super Bowl LIII as a tribute. While it didn’t happen then, the halftime show did feature a nod to the beloved tune.

Super Bowl LVIII, scheduled for February 11, will see the Kansas City Chiefs, AFC champions, take on the NFC champions, the San Francisco 49ers. Alongside the traditional broadcasts on CBS, Paramount+, and NFL+, Nickelodeon will offer a kid-friendly version of the game. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm PT / 6:30pm ET.
