As Taylor Swift deep fakes go viral on the platform, X boosts its content moderation teams.

Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is taking a strong stand against Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) by announcing plans to hire 100 content moderators. The company, in a blog post, clearly states its zero-tolerance policy for CSE, emphasizing its commitment to creating an unwelcome environment for those looking to exploit minors. Despite users aged 13 to 17 making up less than 1% of its daily U.S. user base, X is dedicated to making it more challenging for wrongdoers to share or engage with CSE material, while also simplifying the reporting process for users.

Although the blog post doesn’t specify the exact number of employees X is bringing on board for its Trust and Safety center in Austin, Texas, Reuters reports that the company aims to hire 100 workers, according to Joe Benarroch, X’s head of business operations.

This news coincides with X blocking searches for “Taylor Swift” after sexually explicit AI-generated images of the singer circulated on the platform over the weekend. The incident caught the attention of the Biden administration, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressing alarm.

In another development, X recently introduced a new passkey feature, leading to a PYMNTS Intelligence-PayPal study exploring consumer interest in an all-in-one everyday app. The study reveals that almost 100 million American and Australian consumers are intrigued by such an app, with one-third of U.S. consumers expressing strong interest. However, concerns about data security remain a significant hurdle to widespread adoption, especially among Americans, with 67% expressing heightened concern, particularly in shopping-related activities. This underscores the need to address security issues to encourage broader acceptance of all-in-one apps.
